About Us

Hello there!!!  I’m the proud mama of 2 Perros de Presa Canario (literally, Prey Dog from Canary Islands) and we’re so excited to share our story with you!

Let’s start at the beginning… As the owners of a precious, loving, playful and extremely smart rescued red-nose American Pit Bill Terrier, we were heartbroken to learn that we had to put her down. HEARTBROKEN. It took a whole year to mourn her, process, and finally be okay enough to start looking for a new doggie to bring home. Keeping in mind that we do not ever want to go through such heartache again, we began investigating on the internet for the perfect puppy. The criteria: loyal, balanced temperament, athletic, good guardian, smart, low maintenance, short hair, and not banned anywhere in the world (BSL). Finally, after yet another 6 months, the 2am morning silence was broken with a huge “YES!” We found our new dog! Looking at the picture blaring from the screen in the morning darkness, our friend said, “F***, that’s a scary dog.”  Scary-looking? Sure. But perfect for us? Absolutely!

Next step: let’s find a kennel… More internet research took us to a few reputable kennels.  While at a Dog Show in San Juan, Puerto Rico, we stubble upon a beautiful, majestic creature named Gala. Can it be? Are there Presa Canarios in PR? Immediately, we demanded to know where she came from. Gala’s mama pointed out the breeder who happened to be on the opposite side of the coliseum. We hit it off. Cano’s a good guy who knows his stuff AND his dogs’ backgrounds are exactly what we were looking for! It also just so happened that one of his bitches (I love being able to say it and get away with it! 🙂 )  was due to give birth soon!  It was meant to be… And so our journey begins…
